Exceptional Student Education
Grade Level: 9-12
Length: 1 to 6 periods per day, per semester.
Prerequisite: Must be staffed into program.
Multiple Credits

A student with any disability must meet the district and state guidelines for placement in the ESE Program. The student will work with the ESE teachers on assignments based on his/her ability levels, interests and needs in order to improve basic academic skills. Assistance is also provided to help the students achieve successfully in the regular classroom programs.

The following courses are offered to students with special needs pursuing a standard diploma.

Career Placement—OJT
Learning Strategies
Social Personal Skills

Learning Strategies focuses on test taking strategies, reading comprehension, and composition. Speaking and listening, study and reference skills are also included. FCAT preparation classes are also available to ESE students in the general education classes.

Social Personal Skills focuses on social skills and behavior in individuals to include conflict resolution and mediation. Students develop individual positive intervention and behavior plans to implement throughout the school year.

A Community Based Instruction (CBI) Program is available to all ESE students as well as On the Job Training.
