French 1 The purpose of the course is to introduce the students to the target language and its culture and to develop communicative skills and cross cultural understandings. Emphasis is placed on listening and speaking with special attention to pronunciation. An introduction to reading, writing and fundamentals of grammar and culture are also included. French 2 The purpose of this course is to reinforce the fundamental skills previously acquired by the students. Emphasis is placed on expansion of listening and speaking skills and increased reading and writing skills. The content includes a cultural survey of the French-speaking people. Q French 3 The purpose of this course is to reinforce, master, and expand skills previously acquired by the students. Emphasis is placed on expansion of contemporary vocabulary, grammar, structure and conversational skills through discussions on selected readings of activities important to everyday life of the French-speaking people. Q French 4 The purpose of this course is to reinforce, master and expand skills previously learned by the students. Emphasis is placed on acquiring more advanced language structures, idiomatic expressions and expanded vocabulary through listening and speaking activities, varied reading, and writing reports and compositions. Q French 5 The purpose of this course is to expand the skills previously acquired by the students. Emphasis is placed on developing communications skills through the presentation of oral reports on literary and cultural topics, current events and personal experiences. Readings include newspaper, magazine articles, short stories and plays and a survey of literature. Writing is enhanced through compositions using correct language structures and expanded contemporary vocabulary. Q French 6 The purpose of this course is to reinforce and master the skills previously acquired by the student. Emphasis is placed on expansion of the student’s ability to the communicate ideas, feelings, and opinions in oral and written forms. There is further development of comprehension skills through the study of literary selections, reading and interpretations of great works in language, while developing an understanding of major literary movements. Q AP French Language The purpose of this course is to develop oral and written fluency in the language. The content includes, but is not limited to, that which is determined by Advanced Placements guidelines. Students are required to take the Advanced Placement examination . Q AP French Literature The purpose of this course is to develop oral and written fluency in the language. The content includes, but is not limited to, that which is determined by Advanced Placements Program Guidelines. Students are required to take the Advanced Placement examination . |
