The SPHS Lacrosse Club is composed of interested boys and girls attending St. Petersburg High School and community players that participated on the St. Petersburg Youth Lacrosse Teams during the 2009-2010 season. Participating students will follow the Academic Code of Conduct of Saint Petersburg High School and Gulf Coast Lacrosse league (GCLL). Both the boys and girls teams compete in the Gulf Coast Lacrosse League and play a full game schedule.
The official season begins on Jan. 24, 2011, with practices as follows; boys practice Monday through Thursday 6:30 to 8:30pm and on Saturdays 9:30 to 11:30 am. The girls practice Monday and Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm and Saturdays 9:30-11:30. Practice adjustments may be made as deemed appropriate by the coaches. Practices will be held at Azalea Park located at 1400 72nd Street N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.
The Official Lacrosse season begins on January 24th, 2011. The teams will be attending a pre-season jamboree on January 29, 2011 with the regularly scheduled games beginning in February. Please see schedules for game information.
In order to participate on the lacrosse team players are required to complete the SPHS registration packet which contains forms specific to our club, become registered US Lacrosse Members, purchase the School Insurance (the High Option Plan $7 -$10) and a City of St. Petersburg Advantage Card. Players are also required to provide proof of a current physical. The registration forms are available on line at www.stpetelacrosse.com
The Team fees will be approximately $250 per player. These fees cover home field officials, balls, game uniforms and practice jerseys, fees for practice /home game fields, paint for field, cage nets, misc. equipment, and more.
Team will be coached by experienced players/US Lacrosse certified coaches on a volunteer basis. The coaches will complete the SPHS Volunteer form. Parents are encouraged to learn the game and become part of the team as well. Parents wanting to help with the team are required to complete the SPHS Volunteer Form prior to any involvement. These forms can be found on the Pinellas County School website under parent forms and are turned into the club secretary. The club will need parent participation when we play on our Home Field for field painting, field set-up, scoring, timers, and announcements.
